We’re looking to recruit an experienced Yard & Despatch with experience in a factory warehouse environment, preferably within the despatch area.

Reporting to the Yard & Despatch Team Leader and Assistant Production Manager, this role will be part of a skilled and experienced team, supporting the efficient handling and movement of heavy galvanised metalwork within our factory.

The Yard & Despatch department is responsible for sorting, picking, packing and organising customer orders, ensuring that finished metalwork products are correctly prepared for despatch. This role is physically demanding and requires attention to detail to maintain product quality and ensure orders are processed efficiently.

Responsibilities

Despatch

• Identify and locate heavy galvanised metalwork in the yard/despatch area
• Accurately pick and prepare metalwork orders for despatch, ensuring correct handling of large and weighty items
• Follow the 'first in, first out' principle for stock rotation
• Conduct daily stock checks and quality inspections
• Liaise with relevant teams to escalate any issues and ensure timely order fulfilment

Factory & Yard Operations

• Maintain high standards of quality control when handling and despatching metalwork.
• Organise yard and storage areas to ensure efficient workflow and accessibility.
• Contribute to health and safety initiatives, including risk assessments and near-miss reporting
• Ensure work areas, including the stock yard and despatch zones, remain clean and well-organised
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations related to working in a heavy manufacturing environment

Essential Experience

• Experience in handling, sorting, and preparing heavy materials for despatch
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Physically fit and comfortable working in a factory/yard setting handling large steel products
• Previous experience in metalwork, fabrication or steel industries is advantageous.
